September is a time when the weather becomes fresher and the summer nights start to close in as we go into autumn. It is also when YOU want to lose weight and get fitter. Well I am with you!

I have now set up a new instagram account for you to follow with what I am doing, eating and motivation to keep on track!

We all need support and often feel that we are the only one who is struggling to get motivated to work out or eat the right food when everyone else isn’t.

September ALREADY! New Shakira xx

If like me you have had a great month of August with summer activites, holidays and time with children you are ready to get back into fitness!

ZUMBA IS BACK!

Every Monday at Doxford Park Community centre 8pm.

Tonight we had great fun with new routines and here is the promised video of the new shakira choreography. ENJOY!!

Party ZUMBA!

Only 2 days to go before PARTY ZUMBA!

An exciting opportunity for you to dress up, have 1 hour of dancing fun to all YOUR favourite tracks.  Don’t forget if YOU want to teach a track its also client night so the floor is YOURS!

Its going to be fun and fabulous so bring your tutu’s legwarmers and face paints and dance away the night.

August! Changing Goals.

Its here already, over half way through 2014.  I can’t believe it!  Its so easy to make those plans to get fit and attain goals but life and INJURIES can get in the way.  But don’t look back, look forward and make smaller steps to achieve your goals.  Feeling fat and then eating lots of cake is not going to make you feel any better.  Don’t forget goals can change!

I am signed up to do the Great North Run in September.  Only 5 weeks away on Sunday.  Due to an injury I am far behind on my training.  I do have the fitness, cardio and strength and ran a half marathon only a few months ago but I must do the mileage before I can run this distance.  The events we decide to do must be taken seriously and respected.  My injury has improved and I back to running.  I have since decided to make different goals.  Eating well.  Including more strength training to my fitness routine.  Finding out new fitness ideas and implementing them into my life.  What goals can you set?

Zumba Fitness

Zumba returns with me on Monday 18th August!  Its party time! There will be no classes on the 4th, 11th and 25th of August.

Monday 18th August, Doxford Park 8pm.  £4 per class

Health is a very broad subject and means many different things to different people.  What about you?  Is health about taking each day and making it through?  Accomplishing basic daily chores?  Having a good day without aches and pains.  Managing medication and activities?  Health may mean a higher level of fitness and achieving new goals.

Health is always going to be linked to our genes and what we have inherited and also by the things we do and the environment we live in.

What can you do?

Nutrition

Our bodies can survive to an extent even if we don’ feed it well or drink enough.  Yet the outcome of this will be evident in our health.  I see many people complain one day of tiredness and then the next day post a picture on the internet of the takeaways and alcohol they are drinking, regularly!  We may be dehydrated.  We may be malnourished.  We have all heard the saying, ‘we are what we eat’.  What do you eat and what does it produce in you?  Eating a diet high in sugar or processed food will not give us good results, or good health.  Yet our bodies will take away whatever we put in and use it to keep us alive.  This may mean though that if you have a health issue or an injury you will not get well if you don’t put the right food into your body as quickly as someone who is feeding themselves right!  A good idea is to make a food diary.  No time?  Take pictures!  Yes, every time you eat take a picture of it. After a week see what you are eating.   I recently spent a few days away with a friend and realised that I needed to eat much more regularly that they did which is good but I also noted how much more I was eating and perhaps needed to keep an account of my calories and make better choices.

Fitness

Again a very broad subject.  Fitness to some maybe to manage to lift themselves out of a chair.  To others it maybe to run a marathon or lift heavy weights.  What is important is setting goals and having a range of activities that will always push you to achieve more and have a varied workout.  This may mean carrying the shopping and walking home instead of catching the bus.  Or try to lift yourself out of a chair without resting your hands on the chair or on your legs so your entire body weight is lifted by your legs.  It could be hills sprints instead of running on a flat course that you have ran many times before.  Or trying to run outside instead of on a treadmill.  Maybe trying a new type of fitness class that you have never tried before and see how your body adapts.

We have a wealth of information available on the internet all we have to do is look for it and we will find recipes and exercise ideas to move us forward.

Class Cancellation

Unfortunately I have decided ZUMBA GOLD at Fulwell Day Centre on Wednesday will be CANCELLED with effect of this week 30th June 2014.

As many of you are aware the class will not continue due to changes at the venue and I can no longer hire the room for the session and justify the costs.

I want to express my appreciation to all the ladies who attended the session and supported for the short time it ran.  Wendy will still be teaching ZUMBA at Fulwell on Monday at 11am.

I will continue to teach on MONDAY at Hetton Community Pool at 10.40am and Thursday at 11am Raich Carter.

Don’t forget your MONDAY ZUMBA 8PM DOXFORD PARK COMMUNITY CENTRE!

Zumba!

Zumba continues on MONDAY at 8pm – 9pm every week at Doxford Community Centre. (OLD LIBRARY NEXT TO MORRISONS).

It is an hour long session for only £4.  Every level of fitness is welcome to join in.  It is a cardio workout that can be as intense as you want.  It also includes more toning and muscle building routines to work you even more to burn those extra calories when your not exercising.

Its also a great way to have fun and make time for yourself.

Come along and give it a try.  You just need to wear  comfy clothes, bring a bottle of water and small towel (you do get very hot!).  Let’s dance the night away to some great music.

Class Changes with effect 16th June 2014

Unfortunately due to low numbers WEDNESDAY ZUMBA @ Doxford Park will be cancelled with immediate effect.

All other classes continue the same at the moment.  Any further changes will be notified here first!

Bank Holiday

Another bank holiday!  I hope you are enjoying another long weekend and having fun and hopefully enjoying the outdoors and staying active.

Don’t forget there is NO ZUMBA CLASS on Monday 26th May.  Family Zumba* returns on Wednesday 28th May at 6pm Doxford Park community centre.

Its nearly here and time to get back into action NOW! if you want to be holiday and summer ready.  Have you got those shorts or dresses out yet from last year?  Do they fit?  Do you need to drop a few pounds that have kept you warm over the winter?  I am here to help you.  Zumba is now faster and has many more fitness elements to help you increase muscle mass and improve your cardio levels.  Helping you to burn more calories and get fitter.  If you have missed a few sessions, now is the time to come back and try out the new routines.  I promise you will see a difference and have the same Zumba Party fun as usual.  Without you there its no party!

*With effect of the 4th June, Family Zumba will return to a normal ZUMBA session due to the low number of children. Children will continue to be welcome to come along to any of my session for half price (under 14, 14 and over £4) but the class will not be child specific.

Its May!

Its May already.  Now the spring is here its time to take action for the upcoming warmer months and summer holidays.  After hiding away over the winter in baggy and warm clothes its now when the effort is required to get back into eating healthy and exercising regularly.  Once the weather becomes kinder its a great opportunity to get outside and start walking, running or cycling.

May 2014

Starting this week FAMILY ZUMBA is coming back to Wednesday 6pm Doxford Park.  After such a success with over the school holidays I have had many requests for the family zumba to return.  So bring along your children!  Let them join in the fun and also have a great workout yourself.  Even if you don’t have children to bring along, it will be the same great workout.  Adults £4 Children £2 for 1 hour session.

ZUMBATHON!  Yes!!! Its nearly here.  A charity event next Sunday the 11th May at 1pm – 4pm.  Held at Lambton Street Youth Centre, 25 Falkland Road, Sunderland, SR4 6XA.  0191 567 5227 for enquiries.  Entry is a minimum donation of £5.  Everyone is welcome including children and no matter what your fitness or if you have never taken part in a Zumba Fitness class before.  I will be joined along with other instructors to offer you a Zumba Party!
